APPLY FOR A HABITAT HOME

Habitat for Humanity invites you to apply for a Habitat home. We understand the implication of not having a decent shelter that can result from a variety of circumstances and we want to help.

 

To get started with the process of owning a Habitat home, a prequalification application must be filled out. This application is available below using the link or a copy can be picked up from our office. There are also applications available outside our office door. Please complete the application in its entirety and return it to our office. 

 

The basis for selection for a Habitat home includes meeting the residency requirement which is to have lived in Wichita County for at least one year and complete the prequalification application process which includes the credit check. The selection criteria must also be met which consists of the level of need for better housing, the willingness to partner with us and work alongside volunteers, and the ability to pay an affordable mortgage.

Habitat homeowners play a hands-on role in the homeownership process, beginning with sweat equity. Sweat equity hours can be fulfilled by working alongside volunteers to help build the place that will soon be called home. This requirement can also be met by working in the Habitat ReStore. Future homeowners are also required to attend financial education, homeownership, and budget-planning classes.
